Newbies josephcool Posted October 2, 2001 Newbies Posted October 2, 2001 I'm a beginner of FMP and my operation system is Windows. I plan to setup my first database for my studying. Just one thing to worry, I'm afraid that my FMP file wouldn't be able to transfer to other platforms in the future. Did FMP promise that before? Thanks
Kurt Knippel Posted October 2, 2001 Posted October 2, 2001 The files are completely cross-platform, in fact they know no platform. You can use them on Mac or Window or even Linux.
Anatoli Posted October 2, 2001 Posted October 2, 2001 The files are crossplatform, although you may experience some difficulties when using 8 or more bit characters set. It the font for display is exactly same on platforms it will work quite OK. Sometimes we have to use different font on Mac and PC and then we are testing for CurrentPlatform and we are switching layouts according to platform.
Newbies josephcool Posted October 3, 2001 Author Newbies Posted October 3, 2001 Thanks all your repies!!! but I don't have a MAC, then what fonts are safey choices? also, what's 8 bit fonts?? can you give some examples? Thanks again!!!
DLS Posted October 22, 2001 Posted October 22, 2001 Arial goes cross platform well. Make your fields 20px high and use size 12 font. leave a little extra room at the begining and end of your field labels.
