Auto populating drop down box based on selection??

Featured Replies

I have been searching the forum but have been unable to find an example to solve this question?

Does anyone know if it is possible to have two drop down menus on the same page, where the selection made in drop down #1 automatically populates drop down #2 with related data.

When the user selects a customer from drop down #1, I would like the related sites for that customer to be automatically entered into drop down #2. The user will then submit the form and perform a search on the two drop down fields selected? The customer names and their sites are not in Value Lists, but are two fields on each record in my DB.

Does anyone know if this is at all possible and how?

in FileMkaer 5 and avove, you can build value list on relations. Just try "Help" on value lists. Or search for "conditional value lists" in the value list forum or at "www.databasepros.com".

cjaeger -- it will not work on web.

Bunny -- it is possible with JavaScript

Thank you both cjaeger and Anatoli for your suggestions!

Anatoli - I have been searching the net for Javascript examples. So far I have only been able to find examples where the selection you make in drop down #1 directs you to a url or similar.

Could you possibly provide me with an example? or keywords that might point my search in the right direction please?

Many thanks in advance.
