In my arts organization, we keep lists of donors by levels of "Gold," "Silver," "Bronze," etc.

I have the donor level in the Sub-Summary part and donor names in the Body. Sub-summary data will not export.

Am I missing a step? Is this typical?

Sub-summary data WILL export. The process is a little non-obvious. For the export to work, you must do three things:

1) Have the file sorted in the order necessary for the summarization to take place.

2) Be on a layout which displays the subsummaries in the propoer order

3) Properly setup the export dialog.

To setup the export dialog, select the fields to export, click the "Summarize by..." button. Click the field(s) to summarize by. When you return to the field select dialog, you will see duplicates of the summary field, one in plain type and one in italics. Eliminate the field NOT in italics. Perform the export.
