Hey Folks!

Looking to this killer resource for some more info. Is there a way to get a reprt of scripts that are currently in use in a FM file? My scriptmaker window is so full of testers, etc.. and as I clean up, I don't want delete some forgotten but vital scripts. Anyone?

Hi Dan,

I might be miss reading your post, in which case Tom's answer (as usual) is the way to go. However, to me it seems like you are wanting a tool that will let you know how current a script is. In other words, when was it last use (kind of like a modification date). In order to clean out the obsolete ones.

I just quickly looked at the reports for Analyzer, MetadataMagic, and a couple of others designed to handle just Scripts, and I don't see any that include this type of information in their reports. I don't have the Developer addition, so I can't comment on weather or not you can do this with it. But, I rather doubt you can, as my gut instinct tells me that it would be a lot like the modification date for records, that is, something that you have to set up ahead of time, or information is not available.

When I recently reworked a solution I did years ago, i simply added a script step to every script that would record the Script name, execution date & time, layout name and database name in a devnotes database.

I let the users work with this database for 2 weeks, so I could see which scripts they actually use and which not. This helped redesign of the database a lot.

in addition, you get a report on which button executes which script with FM Developer 6.
