Tab-style interface: how to??

Featured Replies

I am a Filemaker newbie and find the "tab-style" interface (like the one used in the Aqua Template) both attractive and functional. I can't find any references on how to do this. Is FM6 required or can this be done in an prior version? Is there a how-to posted anywhere else in the forums or on this site?

Any help will be appreciated!

Tab interfaces are easier than they seem.

Create the required layouts that *look* similar. Each tab has a script that switches to the next layout. That's all. As long as the layouts look similar, the illusion of a unified interface is created.

Tabs can be done in FMP 2.1, maybe even earlier. (The earliest version I am familiar with is 2.1.)

u can use effects on the 'tabs'- buttons where u can set the button/tabs Effects- Embossed <-> Engraved when looking at that sheet or tab

much like rollovers in html/javascript

All the best!

Go to the Sample Files section and search for Aqua Template by Kennedy. You'll have tab buttons already made and a starter system.

Thanks for your replies! I did study the examples and see that it's really about using Layouts in a creative way.
