Matching Names doesn't always Match Names

Featured Replies

OK, first I thought I was just crazy. But it happened again...

I have a file called Invoice Parts. I make a clone, do some tweaking (adding fields, changing layouts, etc). I even delete a couple of fields. I do not change the names of any existing fields.

Now, from Invoice Parts Clone, I import records, select Matching Names, but when I look through the list, there are a number of fields that should be lined up but don't. In fact, several of them. I actually highlighted one, rechose matching names, and it didn't move! Of course, I don't expect data to go into any newly created fields, or go from from any deleted fields. But the one's that aren't lining up are fields I did not modify in any way.

Anyone else encounter this? We're running v5.5.

Thanks,

Jeff

Trailing or leading spaces in the field names?

  • Author

Nope. I double-checked it just in case. I did notice that it seems like it works ok if, after going to the import dialog, I immediately select Matching Names. If I select any other option then go back to matching names, it no longer matches. I can't be sure, of course, as I was working in a 500 field file ...

Seems to me someone had the same problem some time ago. Maybe check back through some of the old messages to see if there was ever a solution found.

Won't say this could be a solution, but are there special characters in the field names...
