Trouble Sorting Dates in A Portal

I know there's probably a simple way to do this but I can't seem to figure it out. When viewing the date field through a portal, the dates of the entries (very important in my case)show up in the order by which they were entered, not in the descending order I want them to show up in. Even if I sort the source file, the result stays the same in the portal. How do I get the files I'm viewing in the portal to sort in an ascending or descending view? Thanks.

Edit the relationship to sort by the date field.

That's what I figured. But I can't figure out where/how to do that. There is no sorting option in the "define relationships" area. Where is it that I'm not finding it?

Look beneath the 'Allow creation of related records' checkbox in the relationship definition.

3, actually. I just ordered 5 - I didn't even realize I was working with a version that old. Shame on me for being cheap.
