Trigger scripts upon field contents change

Featured Replies

Is it possible to execute a script upon content changes in a field?

Hi Thorgil,

What you want to do is not native to FileMaker and is one of the most requested feature ask on every list that I belong to, in fact, it was one of the first things I inquired about after joining my first list 5 years ago. Unfortunately, FileMaker has not yet seen fit to give is this feature, so in the mean time several developers have come up with workarounds to simulate it.

Take a look at these files:

Script Execution on Exiting Field by: Al Fleming at: http://www.fmfiles.com/tnt8.html

More Field Exit by: James E. Mastrianni at: http://www.databasepros.com

There are also couple plugins that will do this, if you want the URL's let me know

Thanks

When opening the Exit.FP3 file, a dialog box says it was not created by FileMaker or is severely damaged and cannot be opened. How do I get around this? I'm using FMP 5.5v2 btw.

Here is the file. The mac version worked so I zipped and attached it.
