Are you saying when you import data from Excel, each record generates a new serial number in an auto-enter serial field? If so the best way round this is to create a separte field for your imported serial number. So you effectively have two, one that relates to your filemaker file and one that preserves the original invoice number. But maybe I miss understand what your problem is, so please could you explain in a bit more detail and possibly give an example. Gabriela
