kenneth2k1 Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 Hi: I looked over your attachment. It looks like you are trying to track inventory. I can tell you right now that you probably don't want to do it with repeating fields and the calcs you have set up. You probably want to use a relational system, where you have a file for invoices, another for inventory, and another for line items. Rather than explaining the entire process (which is quite extensive), I suggest that you look at some resources for invoicing systems. Here are a couple: - Window/Mac Academy Instructional CD-ROMs. They can be found here I have the volumes for FM4, so I haven't checked out the new ones. Hopefully they are as good. - The FileMaker Solution Framework. This is a fully functional system that you can manipulate as you please. You have to download the FileMaker 6 Demo to get it. I'm sure some other members will suggest some more. Or perhaps you could browse the Sample Files forum to see if there is one already made. Good Luck Ken
snh Posted July 24, 2003 Author Posted July 24, 2003 thanks so much ken for taking the time to look it over. i did initially have seperate databases minus the line items. that may have been my problem then. i will take your advise and read up on this. thanks again jeff
