mewesley Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 Hey All, I was wondering if there is a way to have my value list NOT open when tabbed or clicked to. Instead I would like it to either have a scroll bar or allow the user to use the arrow keys to navigate up or down the list. It's getting way too long. Thanks, Wesley
Razumovsky Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Hi, I suspect that you are actually using a pop up menu, not a list. Try formating the field as a value list- this will give you a box with the first 8 value or so in it and scroll bar plus typeahead functionality. HTH -Raz
mewesley Posted August 8, 2003 Author Posted August 8, 2003 Hey Raz, Thanks for your reply. Actually I am using a list w/scroll bar. The problem is there are many closley spaced fields around the value list fields and the users are complaining that they can't see the data in the other fields when they tab or click into a value list. So I had seen a value list w/scroll bar on a web site that does not open, it just highlights and allows the arrow keys to "scroll" up or down. Also you can just type in the first or more letters of the data you want to select and it will scroll to that section or work. This IS very helpful when using a heavily field populated solution. I t was a filemaker solution on a government website with no commercial links or mention of the developer. I had sent several messages to the "webmaster" but never recieved a reply. That was, oh, maybe 4-6 months ago. Now I can even remember the website. That's what I get for aging I guess. But thanks for replying anyhow. Wesley
BobWeaver Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 You mean the valuelist only displays one line at a time that scrolls up and down? I guess you could probably implement something like this with a one line portal with a scroll bar, and with a transparent button that overlays it, so that clicking on a selected item executes a script that sets a field to the current portal row value.
