Is there a way to create a shortcut or alias so your database just opens when server by filemaker. Instead of opening filemaker and navigating to the database.

What you probably want is an opener file. It's a small filemaker file that sits on the client computer and has a startup script that automatically opens the files on the server. Vaughan wrote up a good article about it. See the following thread:

Pressing HOST button is not big "navigating" to the hosted database. But opener doing the same through HOST is easier for sure.
