Hi !

How would it be smartest to perform "New years change" in FileMaker db ? When year changes I would like to start serial numbering again from 1. I also would like to browse one year at the time. On the other hand it would be nice to be able to perform searches and statistics from all years in db.

How have You solved this ?

One client tried that and it messed everything. Until you reworked all stuff around don't do it.

Uh...oh... So what would be the best way to handle the year change ?

You can maybe use internally year & serial number. Like 200200001 and 200300001.
