relating infomation

I a newbie to Filemaker (and databases in general) and I have been having excellent luck in working with Filemaker. My problem is as follows:

I have field set up in an report (Customer Name) and I would like to have additional customer information (ie; Phone , Address, Postal code, etc.) show up in the report.

Hi Ken,

I would like to have the related info automatically brought into my report when I type in the customer number ie: I type in customer # 0004 and hit enter and BAM - I have the address, phone no, etc.

This should be possible but I have not been able to figure it out.

If you establish a relationship from the Main file to the related file using the Customer_Id for both sides of your relationship, then you'd be able to use related fields to show up information from the Customer File, or involve lookup fields according to the situation.

Just like Ugo said - more specifically:

When you add a field to your layout, in the Specify Field dialog, click the drop-down list on the top and select your relationship. Then you should see the related fields in the list.

Ugo:

Morton has been a pain for the last couple seasons. This guy can catch, along with Snoop and Daunte Hall and Tony Gonzalez, I think this is the strongest receiving core in the NFL. Most analysts have picked the Chiefs to be the break-out team of the season. The Chargers will split the two games we play with the Chiefs. Of course, we have a pretty good receiver now, too: His name is David Boston!
