JimWashDC Posted September 22, 2000 Posted September 22, 2000 Is it possible to show a value from a database field in the "Show Message" script command? Or, can you only have fixed text in these messages? I would like to display a message like, "Are you sure you want to delete the record for 'Joe Smith'? " where "Joe Smith" is a field in the current record.
SteveB Posted September 22, 2000 Posted September 22, 2000 One really easy way is to get the Troi Dialog Plugin. It can do what you want and a lot more. See 'www.troi.com'. The FM Show message script command is pretty poor.

If you subscribe to ISO FileMaker Magazine, I wrote an article on how to do exactly this in issue 48 or 49. If you don't subscribe, let me know, and I describe how it works. But also you might want to check it out, since I think it's the best FMP related periodical out there. Chuck
