I loss my images when i transfer my database from 1 computer to another. My images are linked to the database and even if I drag my whole folder over my network or save to cd and transfer that way the images go. Any idea's? I have over 9000 images so re-linking is not an easy option

Hi,

Please delete your other post in Import/Export section before anyone responds to it. There is no need to post the same question twice on this Forum. Someone will help you, regardless. smile.gif

IMHO -- the full path must be the same.

Maybe another import via FM6?

I believe Anatoli is correct. The full file path must be the same. So you've got to make sure that, if on the original computer, the path to your folder was:

Macintosh HD/Documents/FileMaker Projects/MyBigPictureProject

then it's got to be EXACTLY the same on your other computer. If that means changing the name of your hard drive on computer #2 to match the name on computer #1, then so be it.

However, if you're going from an OS9 to an OSX machine (or vice versa) I think you may be out of luck.

I have a similar situation and resolved it by storing the FM file and linked images on a portable hard drive. When I go from Mac to Mac, the database works perfectly, finding all linked images with no problem. I have not tried this with Windows, but it sould work the same way. The key is to keep all database files and linked documents on the portable hard drive.
