Unable to open File Maker Pro 6

I have a PC with Windows 98, second addition and I just put in Norton Anti Virus 2003. Today I went open Filemaker and it does not open. I've had this problem before. I shut down, turn on the computer and try again (3 times). NO luck.

This has happened alot. The last time I used this file was 9/14/03. In the past, I would give up and not try for another 24 hours, and then it would open. I need this file. Can anyone help??? [color:"purple"]

It's not exactly clear what you are doing. Have you tried launching FileMaker 6? Does it launch? Have you tried launching FM 6 and then using the File...Open dialog to open the file?

If this all fails, I'd reinstall the FM 6 application.

Hi Norma,

Norton Anti-Virus shouldn't be interferring with FM. I would try one more thing before I reinstall ...

Go to your FileMaker folder (directory), find FileMaker Pro.exe and double-click to execute from there. If it works, are you clicking on the db to open it or using a shortcut? If you're using a shortcut, try deleting it and creating a new one by right-clicking on your db and creating a new shortcut. Your shortcut may be funky - it happens. smile.gif
