FMP, multi language web site

Featured Replies

If I build a web site that will be used around the world, what happens to character typed in other languages and if it is a discussion form how can I get the replies to appear in the proper characters?

Hi, rivet! Sounds like to me you need a Star Trek universal translator, but I'm only an expert at Star Trek, not international character sets so I could be wrong. My blind guess would be that you cannot do so... but even if you could get it to display correctly, it would still be another language, n'est-ce-pas? I had thought I had read something about Apple's multi-language web publishing capabilities once but it wasn't what I had hoped it would be.

If there is one, it definitely doesn't work for FileMaker. You can create translation scripts for other languages, which will probably work, but it will double your fields.

How many languages do you need?

I believe the question is about Character Sets. That is, storing and displaying.

Good Luck.

And FM is next to useless in that area. We have to use workarounds all the time. Internally it stores everything as MAC charset and on Windows machines it is doing on-the-fly conversion.
