ODBC / FM Server / MS Word

Featured Replies

got a database on winxp clients FM 6 & FM server 5.5 -set up odbc on the clients and do a mail merge in Word -after connecting to the data source, I have the following issues:

1) its very slow - it takes about 10mins (I see FM doing Sum fields etc.)

2) word sometimes freezes

3) FM seems to find all records rather then keep the found records for the mail merge.

any tips on this please?

Export records from FM as merge file a do all in Word.

In word you have to build a Query to find only the records you want to merge with. (thats what I found)

On another note: Word XP has an email bug, when you email HTML mail the hyperlinks all break. Search http://www.slipstick.com/ for info on this and other office problems and workarounds. I switched to using a plugin and that works great. I used Mail.it for windowZ.

As for the freezing, you can blame Billy G. on that one, there will be a great update that will solve all your problems and save your enterprise money coming out next quater, but then it will be delayed by 6 months and have a bunch of new bugs.
