surwoop Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I am having a problem in FM 6 that this techinfo article describes perfectly (108421). ISSUE: The Web Companion in FileMaker Pro 5.0 and FileMaker Pro 5.5 does not recognize the field validation option to require that a field be 'Not Empty' when creating a new record through custom web publishing. If a new record is submitted through a custom web publishing link or form, and no value was entered for a field set to "Not Empty' in it's validation options, the record would be created and no error would be displayed to the web browser client. Databases published using Instant Web Publishing were not affected by this limitation and under the same circumstances using Instant Web Publishing, an error is displayed to the browser client indicating that the specific field requires a value before a new record can be created. RESOLUTION: In FileMaker Pro 6 the validation option 'Not Empty' is recognized by Web Companion. A new record can not be created through custom web publishing if no value is entered into the field set to be 'Not Empty', and the error message "Required field missing. Values must be entered for the following field: "."" is displayed to the browser client. Note: The error returned when using custom web publishing incorrectly returns the name of the field as ".", regardless of what the field is actually named, while the error message returned if using Instant Web Publishing correctly names the field that requires a value. I am getting the 'Required Field Missing' error returned when I try & create a new record however I don't have any fields set to 'Not Empty' My pages work fine on FM 5.5 but not on 6. Anyone know what might be going on?
Garry Claridge Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Does a problem exist on the Layout being used? Try it without naming a Layout. Good Luck. Garry
