December 23, 200322 yr Newbies If my question is not clear cut please let me know. It had around 20 viewers but no response. Her it is again. thanks Hi All, We have this Application called Adblocks which is written on filemaker pro. This application is serviced through a Citrix server for mutiple users. The problem is, lately Almost once a week we get this error. Could not pause file Calls.fp5 because of an outstanding database lock from guest -Unknown. Sometimes one of the user's name will be in place of Unknown. When this happens it freezes up the database and no one can use the application until we reboot the server. At times when this happens, files are damage that has to get recoverd. Does anyone have any idea what this is or what is causing it?. The Application Vendor Can't figure out why this is happening and so do we. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The app runs on a win2k server as well as the citrix servers. Thanks in advance.
December 23, 200322 yr I am *not* a guru, know nothing about multi-user contexts. Have you searched forums here? It strikes me this thread just *might* be relevant: Same record limitation
December 23, 200322 yr Not a guru but i'll suggest what I would investigate:- I assume the Pause is being run by the server to perform a backup routine. 1) Are any of your users defining fields, modifying layouts or relationships ? I don't know what would happen if someone was defining a field etc. when the pause was run. 2) In the access privileges do any users have the disconnect when idle unchecked? I wonder if the server can't pause the files when guests who have this option unchecked are modifying data. 3) What happens if after locking you ask all users to exit FileMaker ? does the server unfreeze ? 4) Are users not logging off the Citrix server correctly and leaving the FM process open ? Good luck
