W2K, FM 6 & custom colors

Featured Replies

A set of DBs are going to run on Windows, so I do the final layouts, etc. in Windows (Mac is my primary platform). My Windows PC running Win 2000 is behind a firewall, so I have it auto-login as administrator. W2K & FileMaker are all update to date.

I use a bunch of custom colors. In the color palette, I add them to the custom colors, but when I quit FileMaker the palette doesn't get saved, it is blank at the next launch.

In the Display Control Panel, I can set custom colors & they stay there between Restarts, etc.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Sam

It's a long standing bug and complaint...happens on all Windows platforms. You can put all your colors on a separate layout which will make it a little easier.

Thanks Steve

Is the bug in FileMaker or Windows?

Sam

Filemaker has had this problem at least going back to Version 4.9 (when I started using it). They almost never fix old bugs if they are not data-related.

free....

point back to your color used in layout and u'll have the values in no time!...I know it does not fix the FM but your time spent on "grabbing the color" would take as long as goign to your custome colors pallete!

My suggestion is that you make your own color pallete in one of the layouts:

using real images and values (hex or rgb) that you like

[_color_img_] cyan_red

[_color_img_] custom gold used for form framing

etc...

It is actualy kind of fun to see what colors ur tend to use over time and projects....perhaps you learn something new about yourslef laugh.gif

Take care!
