Paolo Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Let's set up a self-join relationship on field A, indexed, text. record#1: 111 record#2: 1.11 record#3: 11.1 record#4: AA record#5: A.A now, i've found that record#1 is related with both #2 and #3 (and itself) (record #4 is not related to #5) this is very annoying for me because field A stores an identifier (KEY) from an imported file. And the relationship doesn't work well because dots between numbers are ignored. Why? Are there other charaters ignored when the field is indexed? How would you work this around? Thanks in advance, Paolo
-Queue- Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 I have no problem with periods in North American version of FM. Perhaps your system formats don't index periods for some reason?
Vaughan Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Set the field indexing to ASCII, see if it helps.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Yep, that's the way to go. I also had the case once. Does this happen with "," in your US versions, as this seems to be an European settings stuff? FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Mac OS 9
Paolo Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 >Set the field indexing to ASCII, see if it helps. Yes, it works! Thank you!
