FP6 - Text wrap in text field not working on form

Hey All,

I'm a newbie when it comes to FileMaker and have been recently inherited a database where I work. One of the forms has a text field that handles variable length strings, and when the text wraps, the size of the field does not grow accordingly. How can I go about setting up the field so that it expands in size as the text grows?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated,

FileMaker Version: 6

DocTre,

I do not know of any way to increase the size of a field with a calculation. The only way to actually change the size would be to go into layout mode and manually do it. But you can add a vertical scroll bar. Layout mode, then right click on the field and then field options.

Also try this post, it may be helpful. Post on varible field size

Justin, thanks for your reply. It looks like I'll just go into layout mode, as you suggested, and tweak the font settings (make it a little smaller) and extend the text field. Its just kind of weird that you can't set a field upto auto-expand (I've done a bunch of stuff in Crystal recently, so that may be helping my brain think these funny things.)

Take Care,

Doc Tre

If you could auto-expand fields, those could really mess up the layouts. Where to shove the objects that are in the way?

Anyway, I was thinking about something, but can't really get to work. How about creating one big field, in which there are only merge fields, separated by two
