Batfastad Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 If I put a certain file in the autoupdate folder on filemaker server 5.5, say a word template (.dot) that I use with macros to perform a mail merge - can I use the filemaker auto update feature to download an updated version of that file on startup? By simply going External ("FMSAUC-UpdatePlugin", "letterplain42.dot") or something? Basically is the autoupdate plugin restricted to just plugins/.fmx files or could I use it for other support files that I use with our database? Flipping handy if I can auto download new versions of our templates to clients rather than having to add it to our network startup scripts. FileMaker Version: 5 Platform: Windows 2000
Batfastad Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 YES!!! Turns out it is. I've tried it and it works with Mac or Windows. Obviously if there is a file with that name there already then it is simply moved to the 'Saved' folder and the new one put in its place. Fantastic - another useful tool!!
