May 6, 200421 yr Newbies I'm writing a script to find a set of records of people who all have email addresses. The checkbox for 'Has Email Address' is one value in a list of three, which are all contained within one field. One way round this would be to split the field into three, and in my script just use a 'Set Field' on the field that contains the 'Has Email Address' checkbox. Is there a way of leaving the 'Has Email Address' data in the field it is in, and writing the script to find only those that have this value checked? Many thanks for any help. Donal x
May 6, 200421 yr So, there's a field that has "Has Email Address" if the person has an email address? Is the address contained in the field? What field are you searching? Do you have a sample or two of what might be in the field? For Example: A field named Stats might contain "HasTelephone:HasEmail:HasMailingAddress" (?) OR Stats might contain "(702)656-8979:[email protected]:111HappyStreet" (?) Thanks.... Paul

May 7, 200421 yr Author Newbies Ok, hopefully this will answer both questions... To the normal user the database displays the following options, with checkboxes: Active Mail Address Active Email Address Eurolink Internet Email Address And what the database stores, in one field, is a checked or unchecked box beside the corresponding value from this list. In other words: "Has Active Mail Address:Has Active Email Address:Doesn't have Eurolink Internet Email Address". The email address itself is stored in another field (hey I didn't design this thing). Let me know if you need any more clarification. Cheers Donal
May 7, 200421 yr Donal, Assuming that you are not doing any other finds in the script, go to the layout that has the checkboxes. Enter "Find" mode and click the checkbox next to "Active Email Address". Perform the find. When you go to edit your script, just make sure that the "Perform Find" script step has the "Restore Find Requests" checked. I'll post a file shortly, just because my explanations frequently leave much to the imagination. paul
May 7, 200421 yr Here's a brief example. I apologize if this is beneath your level of FM function. It seemed to answer the question, though. Paul FindEmail.zip
