Making a report from Different Portals

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone...

Here is the situation...

I have tables named: "Main", "Policies", "Beneficaries", "Premiums"

The relationship between them is:

Main has a portal on it that shows all policies relating to the customer

Policies has many portals on it; 1 showing all beneficaries on it and 2, shows all premium information on it..

They all work well.. I have now tried to make a report that combines all of these and I am having some trouble....

How do I make a report that can show multipule lines... Let me explan a little better..

I have made a report that uses premiums as it informational start...this works well to show all the premiums for that record...(It lists them down) works great..

But when I try to add Beneficaries to the mix...I can not...it only show one...My guess is that is b/c my report did not draw it informational data from the beneficary table but from the premium table...

So I tired to make a portal... that works...but now when my premium list its contents it adds the same portal for every year my list is...

Help

The general rule is to print from the table that has the most records. I guess that would be premiums. Use a portal in a summary field to display beneficiaries. Make the portal long enough to hold the maximum number of beneficiaries. Set it to slide up and reduce enclosing part. You can improve the appearance by making borders transparent.

An alternate method is to use the Troi Text Plug-in (http://www.troi.com) and make 2 calculated text fields in the policies table using the sum text and related functions. You can get some very pleasing results.
