seanc Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Hi all, Just had a weird problem. I was using a web served database, and everything was going fine. Left it for a while and then tried again from a different computer, and got a "Database not open" error. Checked the unlimited machine, and the file was still open and responding to some commands, but the Sharing option wouldn't open anything, and a whole heap of menu's were greyed out even though I'd opened the file in "God" mode. I also noticed I couldn't modify any of the existing records - typing in the field did nothing (no characters or errors). Closed the file, it opened automatically via a relationship from the file underneath, and all menu's are back and everything works as normal. Its almost as if the login level was changed somehow. Any ideas how that could happen? Anyone seen this before? Many thanks... Sean!
Steve T. Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Hi, Sean! Just the other day I was showing someone a database (FMP5) and how she would now have to log in using a password (last year we didn't use a password on that db) and I thought she had typed in the wrong password because she only had limited access. We quit and tried again and this time had full access. Later, when I logged in w/a bad password, it told me it was an invalid password so I was confused as to what had happened before. She must have used the right password but not gained the appropriate access level. I've never "lost" access once I was in, though. Weird, indeed. --ST
mike72 Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Check the sharing for the file under "File>>Sharing" menu - i had this same problem when migrating databases from one computer to another, and accessing the databases from another station. mike
