Send Mail Attachments

Is there anyway to:

1. Specify the attachment to the email from a field containing path?

2. Attaching a file from a container field?

Any other alternative to attachments would be usefull? Any plug ins?

Not sure about question 2, but the SMTPit plugin handles attachments very easily.
