running winshield to remove server 5.5 reports error 1723, requesting a DLL required for install to complete.

Have you tried reinstalling it and then running the uninstaller? This may install the DLL that it needs to uninstall.

This is a bug in the Server 5.5 installer. You can download a patch on FM's website. Install the patch then the uninstall will work normally.
