Jul
Hi, I am trying to convert FileMaker 5 files to FIleMaker 7. I have about 30 related files and all of them are converted just fine except one. This file has lots of scripts and when converting scripts FileMaker 7 simply quits. When I open up the conversion log - it ends on "Converting Page Setup Settings...." for particular script - if I delete Page Setups and Print() from all scripts, FileMaker still quits and in the conversion log the last phrase is "Converting layouts finished" I am so desperate - I just don;t know what to do. DO I have to delete all my scripts? I even don't know where is the problem.. I will appreciate any help Thank you
Vaughan
User FMP 6 to run the Recover command over the file. Rename the recovered file to the original name (don't delete the old file, put it somewhere safe) and try converting the solution again. If that doesn't fix it, start working your way through backups of the file until you find a good copy, then clone it and import the records from the latest version (remember to update any serial numbers in Define Fields, it gets me every time). bruceR
Did you first run Metadata Magic File Reference Fixer on the files? That's the starting point for legacy file conversion.
hanzel
I had similar problems during my conversion process. Several of my files would hang the process during script conversion. What I ended up doing was finding the scripts that were causing the process to fail. By the process of elimination, I managed to find 3 bad scripts in the entire file containing roughly 200 scripts. I t was a lengthy process but now I know exactly which ones they are and was able to remove them prior to conversion.
