Newbies drawingmecrazy Posted July 1, 2004 Newbies Share Posted July 1, 2004 I am trying to access my databases on our companys Intarnet. When I type the IP address I can get a default page, but not the databases. I am trying to use Web Companion, the preferences are set to "built-in" everything seems to be correct. I've tried port 80 and port 591. My databases are located in the Server 5.5 folder. I can access them from any PC that has Filemaker installed. I just can seem to see them online. Help! Is there some particular folder they should be in?
John Glenn
Are you using FMP 7? Did you use Sharing->Instant Web Publishing to indicate which databases should be available for publishing? Did you use Define-> Accounts & privileges to allow this user Extended Privileges including Web Publishing?

Newbies drawingmecrazy Posted July 1, 2004 Author Newbies Share Posted July 1, 2004 By the way, I am setting up this system, so currently no one has access to these databases over the Intranet. I am trying to provide it.
Garry Claridge
Besides, enabling the "WebCompanion" Plugin you will need to have "Sharing-->WebCompanion" Checked for each database. Good Luck. Garry
Steve T.
Hi, dmc! And no, the databases do not have to be in any particular location. FM recommends not putting the db's in the Web folder, though.... just have them open anywhere and shared as Garry says and you should be okay (probably Instant Web Publishing, right?) --ST
