Hi,

Anyone else experienced a problem with Filemaker 7 where buttons just don't seem to work when accessed via the web (using built in Instant Web Publishing). It has me perplexed. In my experience it is quite random, although they more often don't work than do work. I have a small solution that has been set-up to allow a single user to access it remotely. Everything is done, however, when the user logs in, they are unable to click on any buttons on the web layouts (I've tried using different browsers on mac and pc). Strangely, sometimes by modifying the layout and making the buttons larger seems to fix the issue, but not always. When on the web, the browser doesn't even detect that they are buttons (ie mouse cursor doesn't change to hand when hovering over). I've ruled out a permission issue by logging in with full access.

Incidently, as a test, I loaded up the Filemaker Business Tracker solution which FM made available recently; this exhibits the same problem.

Anyone else experiencing this?

First, you have to make sure the scripts are web compatible, which you can check in scriptmaker.... business tracker uses a lot of script steps that are not.

Second, only certain browsers... (IE on Win, IE or Safari on Mac) will work with IWP. Scripts do not execute with Netscape/Mozilla.

Hi Reed,

Thanks for the reply. I have ensured the script steps are web compatible. In fact, a lot of the buttons don't even have scripts associated with them. They are just change layout etc. Weird. In fact, the buttons may intermittenly work, even in the same useage session.

I don't know.... It might be a browser issue. Also, have you run the 7.0v2 updater? You could post the file, and/or a URL to your site, and others could test it.
