July 13, 200421 yr Hi All, Can I ask if anybody knows if it's possible to embed a portal within another portal e.g. db A holds 1 document with one to many relationship to db B for each entry inside db B there is a one to many with db C [ab A[db B[db C]]] [----[----[db C]]] [----[db B[db C]]] [----[----[db C]]] [----[----[db C]]] [----[db B[db C]]] Have you got any suggestions? Best Giles
July 13, 200421 yr Hi All, Can I ask if anybody knows if it's possible to embed a portal within another portal e.g. I know, and it's not possible. [sIGH] (can't wait for version 8!) One thing you might try--i haven't tested this, but it works great within the confines of my brain. In table B, create a field that is equal to ValueListItems ( someValueList ) where someValueList is a relational value list that displays items from the appropriate related field in table C. Put that into your portal on the layout for table A. IF this works, it's obviously more limited than a portal-within-a-portal, but maybe it will do. Jerry
July 13, 200421 yr You can't make a portal within a portal, but you can use a portal to db C and insert fields from db B.
July 13, 200421 yr Here you go. You actually have to create another table occurance of db B on the other side of db C. Company.fp7.zip
July 13, 200421 yr Hi Ender, Thanks for the Balloons, or do I mean Booleans (that one is for JT), and pointing out the 2000 to me, I hadn't noticed. Thanks for the file too, I should have guessed that it would be a v7 solution. I was hopping you had figured out how to do this in 5/6, since that is the version showing in your bio. Darn, Lee
July 13, 200421 yr Hi JT Somehow your reply got missed (a freeze of IE), and I only just discovered it. Your are on a faster track than I, as it has taken you a third of the time to get there, as me. This is a little premature, but you will get there in a few days, and just in case I miss it the, Lee
