Hi everybody,

I have a question for exporting records to Excel.

I want to Export the name of the field also to Excel sothat can see what is the meaning of this coloumn.

ex.

Name age

Jack 12

Anna 52

.....

Have anybody an idea how can i do that?

Welcome to the forum. Please update your profile to include your Operating System and version of FileMaker. There is a link under your name.

This questions comes up from time to time. You will want to use the Merge Field option in Export.

For more about these options, open up your Online Help in FileMaker, and in the Index tab either type or copy and paste this:

But Lee i want to export the data's to excel. If i give them a merge extention then it would be jungle in Excel!

No, when you use the Merge format (try it before assuming), the field names appear in the top row and the data appers in the following rows.

FM's merge file, with a .MER extension is equivalent to Excel's .CSV file format. You could rename the .MER file to have a .CSV extension, after which Excel will read the file without a problem.
