Incredibly slow portal sort

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've just imported some 2000 records and I could bake a cake let alone get a coffee in the time it takes to sort the records in the portal.shocked.gif Seriously, it takes a full 5 minutes to sort. In fact I just changed one field so it's automatically re-sorted and in the time I've written this and gone to the loo (tmi i know) it still hasn't finished the sort.

Indexing is turned on. I imported 230 records before and had the exact same problem with length of time to sort.confused.gif

Any ideas?

Edited to add: If i perform a normal sort it works fine. But as soon as I go to the next record it triggers an automatic sort and takes a long time. (I don't have any script sorting it.. I have moved to the next record using the record thingo on the status area toolbar.

Much appreciated!

How are the related fields sorted in the relationship/portal definition? Are the sort fields indexed?

Hi Queue,

I haven't actually got the relationship sorting the records. I turned it on and it didn't make a difference. The field being sorted is indexed. The portal is sorted by Company Name.

It's one thing for the portal to take a while to sort, but i dont' understand how just flicking through to every second record would cause the sort to be generated again.

Cheers

Um, if navigating between records changes the records displayed in the portal, then it makes sense why they would resort. How many records are related, on average?

Hey Queue,

Well I don't know what I did, but I seemed to have fixed it. laugh.gif
