FM Web Setup

Featured Replies

Here is our setup. Win2000 server with FM server 5.5 hosting aprox. 100 DBs. Webserver with FM6 unlimited. Client PCs.

The webserver has the files open. When we go the a client pc and open the browser and type in the ip it goes to the default FM html page ensted of the Web DB page. Any suggestions.

In the WebCompanion plugin setup do you have "Instant Web Publishing" enabled?

Good Luck.

Yes it is.

Do the databases have WebCompanion Sharing enabled?

Yes. Everything is setup the way FM says it should. I am really confused

Hi, mgm! In a non-FMServer scenario, we just keep the db's open on the server running FM-Unlimited with Web Companion enabled and configured and our databases set to be shared via Web Companion. Using Instant Web Publishing, I believe the default page is selectable from the Web Companion set up screen. If you use the Built-in, one, you get a generic FM page w/your shared db's listed (unless you used filename_.fp5 to hide them. If you use a custom default web page, you just see it and no links to your shared db's unless you custom create them on that page our db.

If you enable Custom Web Publishing and select the Web Security Database option, maybe this can cause the databases to be inaccessible since the WSD has not been configured for them... I could be wrong, though... I haven't really used IWP and haven't tested this.. just throwing it out there as a possibility.

The fact that you are getting the FM screen is a good sign, though. You're really close.
