elvis_impersonating_penguin Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 ok... It has been a very long time since I have done any of the web publishing stuff. I'll probably end going with a custom web publish solution instead of instant, but right now I am just trying to remember how to get everything set up, so i am testing with Instant. I am using Filemaker 6 on Windows 2000, I have databases open, i have the web companion plugin enabled with instant web publishing enabled. In the sharing options for the file, i have web companion checked, and all the views set up correctly. I can get to the little default "Instant Web Publishing database homepage" by going to http://localhost but it says "No files opened and set to be shared by the Web Companion." what am i missing, or doing wrong. I've tried changing to a different port, i've tried different sharing options (single user, multi user, multi user hidden).. i'm not sure what I am missing.
Steve T. Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 Who's penguin? (just kidding) Sounds good to me, but I'm not sure about using "localhost" with FM. I thought I remembered reading about some kind of issue w/FM and "localhost". I use it myself, but I find it only works when I have an internet connection. Try the IP address instead, even if it's something like 192.168.0.2. Web Companion enabled DBs open DBs shared via Web Companion Don't know why you are having trouble. Good luck. --ST
elvis_impersonating_penguin Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 well localhost takes me to the right place. I created a new test database, and I am able to enable instant web publishing in it with no problem. What would go wrong with a database to not make it work with instant web publishing.
Steve T. Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Hmmm... The NAME of the database does not "end" in an underscore, does it? dbname_ dbname_.fp5 The underscore at the "end" of the name hides shared files from showing up in the default page... I'm not sure why you'd get that "NO FILES OPEN... " message, though... even so. --ST
elvis_impersonating_penguin Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 DOH!!!... underscore... forgot about that... thanks
