Mike-LI-NY Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 I'm wondering if there's anyway to export or print a list of all my fields along with their definitions so I can send them to someone - either on paper, or to an excel file or something.... is this possible? Thanks! Please email me at [email protected] if you can help Thanks!
Ender Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 In the print dialog, you can choose an option to print the field definitions.
Mike-LI-NY Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 Thanks so much! I can't believe I never noticed that! Does it print ALL fields? or only teh ones that are in the current layout?
QuinTech Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 All fields. Another trick my boss showed me is to print field definitions to a PDF file so you can easily search them. Jerry
Mike-LI-NY Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 Ah that's a smart move. But no way to export them right?
QuinTech Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 No. You could export to, say, a text file if you just want the field names. But, really, no.
Lee Smith Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 You can take a screen shot of the Define Fields Box and enclose that as an attachment. OR, If you are on a Mac, and using something less than OS X, download the Free PrintToPict utility and it allows the printing to a Text File, and you can also print to PDF and enclose that to too, or go to this URL and download one of the utilities that will also do this for you. http://www.fmfiles.com/dev1.html PrintToPict is available here: http://www.fmfiles.com/dev12.html OOPS I also meant to say, you can Export the names of the fields using Merge format. You will have to initially have at leas one record in your Found Set. Open that in Excel and you can eliminate the record information and save it as Tab Text. HTH Lee
