FMP7 value list from related repeating field

Featured Replies

I am trying to convert several dbs from FM6 to FM7 and have got stuck on a value list problem. In the db a value list is obtained from a related field with multiple (up to 4) repetitions. In FM6 this works just fine and the value list returned includes all of the data in the related field, incl that in repetitions of the related field.

In FM7 however the list returned contains ONLY the values in the first repetition of the related field and those values in the 2nd 3rd and 4th repetitions of the related field are not included in the value list.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

any help much appreciated

Gee, not putting additional reps' values into lists is a pretty large bug! (I was logging in today to research 3rdparty's very question myself. What a coincidence!)

Is it a sign that FM has dropped thinking seriously about repeating fields, or can we expect it to be fixed (as people come up with more and more creative uses for them in FM7)? Anybody know?

I think the fact that several new repeating-field features were added in FM7 indicates that FMI is still "thinking seriously" about them.

It will be fixed.

hmmmm. when i first started doing stuff in filemaker that was marginally above elementary someone warned me to avoid repeating fields on principle, essentially on the grounds of compatibility and ability to exchange data with other apps. I now find myself rather a long way down the wrong road.....

Anyway, I posted a bug report on the issue via the FM website. Is there anything more I should do, apart from be patient?
