mdpres Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 I am trying to script a way a user could go to layout mode. FileMaker, as far as I know has no way of doing that . Does anybody out there know of a way?
danjacoby Posted December 20, 2001 Posted December 20, 2001 Layout mode is only supposed to be used by programmers and designers, not by end users, so having a script go to Layout Mode (where end users can really screw things up) is just not a good idea. That's why you can't do it.
Vaughan Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 Every time I think about it I get a cold shiver -- letting users access layout mode. Bbbrrrrr. <shudder> After wasting my time fixing a layout because somebody fiddled with it and moved stuff around ("it worked OK yesterday...") I now make sure all users are locked out of layout mode with passwords. No exceptions.
DykstrL Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 I agree with danjacoby and Vaughan - You should NEVER let the users into the layouts - it will only cause you more trouble and heartache than you can imagine. Think about this another way - if the user isn't smart enough to figure out how to get into Layout Mode, what makes them smart enough to know what to do if you did have a way to script them into it?
