email FM form that can be modified

Featured Replies

I need to send large Invoice requests to several people, so they can attach a purchase order number and return it. From FM I have been turning the layout to pdf file and attaching it to an email. They then have to print, add numbers I need and then fax it back. They do not have FM. Is there a way to email my layout to them in a form that they can type in their number and email it back without having to print, hand write number, and fax it back?

Howdy, Howe! If it's an invoice "request" and not an actual invoice, maybe you can just use straight text e-mail (formatted kind of form-like if you want) and have them reply w/correct data for the final, nicely-formatted invoice. That would also help folks from accidentally confusing the invoice request for the invoice itself.

A more invovled solution would be to put your invoice requests on the web as web forms for them to complete and enter directly into FileMaker (literally online via the web), but that's a much bigger issue that might invovle significantly more hardware, software, and internet connections than you have, not to mention the time and web skills necessary to pull it off. If you're going in the web direction anyway for other things as well, though, your invoice request form would be an easy add-on to your web solution.
