August 30, 200421 yr Newbies OK I hope you all can help or point me in the right direction. I have DSL and wish to have a basic dbase up for around 2 to 3 people to access and use over the internet. I am running FM7 (5 users - Plenty). SO either i am missing something or the manual(help info) is lacking, probably the latter. Even if my IP is not static that is not a problem. I ofcourse am having no trouble accessing the dbase over my local network. now by locating my IP through http://www.showmyip.com/ would a person outside my LAN just need to attach a Colon and 591? Someone needs to wirte a dummies guide for doing this for the casual user. Thanks for any considderation in this matter. B
August 30, 200421 yr If you are using port 591 then yes the outside users would need to append ":591" to the IP address. If you are using a Gateway/Router you will also need to "map" port 591 to the computer on your LAN. If you are not using a Gateway/Router (i.e. you are using PPPoE directly to a DSL modem) you may need to check for a Firewall blocking the port. Good Luck. Garry p.s. There are a couple of good guides on the forum which have been written recently in response to similar questions
