Hi Mariam,

I see Andy gave you an answer already, and Merge is one of the format that I would have suggested too.

You might want to read about ALL of the file formats that FileMaker can work with. Just look up File Formats in the Manual, or open up the Online Help available within FileMaker, and either type or paste file formats, About file formats in the window. Then just Open the link and it will give you a list of the formats with a description of each.

[color:"blue"]BTW, please update your profile to reflect your current platform, operating system, and version of FileMaker.

TIA

Also, if you export as .mer, but name the file as a .csv, then Excel will open it naturally.

Hi JT,

I tested your tip the other day, and it works great. Thanks for posting it again, Maybe now I can remember to pass it on when the Merge field discussion comes up in the future. Probably not. Chair-Fall.gif

one problem though... if u have some foreign characters that's beyond the scope of Windows (ANSI), etc., they won't be exported correctly in .MER.

u are then bound to use the ones that enable Unicode (UTF-16)... which is CSV, TAB... etc.
