spankalee Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 I'm having trouble getting data into QuickBooks. So far I haven't even used FileMaker yet, I'm just creating a IIF file by hand, but I'm hoping someone here can help out since Intuit has no interest in supporting IIF anymore, the documntation is sparse, and I can't find a QuickBooks community as helpfull as fmforums is. My initial problem is that QuickBooks says a customer is required for an Invoice. The problem is that there is no field for customer, there's only NAME which is the customer name. To make this post slightly on topic, I will eventually create a FMXML->IIF stylesheet and post it here if anyon'es interested.
Charles Delfs Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Help is on the way, man I hate quickbooks but I am also stuck with them. I also have quickbooks POS ( a real rip off I must say) but it creates IIF's for QB, I will attach one for you to look at, there are various transaction from purchases, to customer purchaes to account charges and returns, it's all there just have to look., I open them up in excel for easiest understanding. BTW, the file has a .POS extension but is just an IIF. Charles QBPst001.zip
transpower Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Spankalee: You could purchase FileBooksLink from Happy Software. This program integrates FileMaker and QuickBooks in real time.
Fenton Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 You could try this also. I believe this is the "old" way to deal with QB. http://www.markjeffords.com/fmbooks/fmp2qb.htm
spankalee Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 Thanks everyone. Charles- sweet, I'll look at that. trans- I found FileBooks while searching, but it's Windows only (since the QuickBooks SDK is Windows only) and it costs $200. Fenton- I found that as well, but I stopped as soon as I saw the download was an .exe. I looked a little further and I think that this is just how he's packaged it up, the files look to be normal FM files. I just need to find a PC now (I'm in some weird Mac vortex where I live, nearly everyone I know owns a Mac, and the place where I work is an all Mac shop. I seriously can't think of anyone here who owns a PC. Very Weird). Looking at the screen shots on Mark Jeffords site, I think what I was missing was a customer section in my invoice.iif file. thanks again
