alopas Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Hi, Is it possible to install FileMaker Pro 7 in a Citrix server, and then use Citrix (through "open remote") for accessing databases that are hosted with a FileMaker Server in a different location? Thanks in advance
Charles Delfs Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I believe filemaker has some info on thier site on this but in short the answer was yes I believe. I use FM through terminal services and it works grrreat. Charles
alopas Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 Great! I don't know much about it, so I thought that it would be necessary to install in Citrix FMServer, instead of FMPro. I just had a look at the FM site and there is plenty of info about it . Thanks very much for the feedback!
transpower Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Yes, Citrix Server (or Windows Terminal Server) must be on a separate computer from FileMaker Server. FileMaker Pro 7 gets installed on the Citrix Server (or Windows Terminal Server). The volume licenses go on the computer with FileMaker Server. Then the Windows cients connect to FileMaker Server through Citrix Server (or Windows Terminal Server).
alopas Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 The volume licenses go on the computer with FileMaker Server. Sorry , I'm a little bit confused ... so the machine where FMServer is running needs to have FMPro installed as well? I thought that the volume licenses go only on the Citrix ...?
Keith LaMarre Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 There is no extra license on the FileMaker Pro Server. However, you do have to have a version of FileMaker that will support multiple "sessions" on a single machine - the Citrix Server. This means you need a "site" or "multi-user" license. There is no need to have FMPro client on the FM Server and there are no site licenses on the Server - just the Server license.
