I'm using FM5 with Windows 95. I am learning FM5 and need some help. I have noticed that Pop ups, Roll overs and Help files can only be used if you have FM6/7 on Windows 98 and above and with plug ins. Is there any way I create a script in HTML or Java ( I have a very basic grasp of programming )or by using script maker without the need to upgrade or use plug ins? I have created a database that works but I would like to be able to develop my database to my own custom requirements.

I assume you are talking about the FMP client interface (layouts) and not access through the web (Instant Web Publishing or Custom Web Publishing)...

FMP can do pop-up lists, menus, radio buttons and check boxes natively. It cannot do rollovers natively.

As for doing Help files... it depends on what you want to do.

Thanks for your reply Vaughan. It is the interface I am on about. I did a database for my hobby and my friend saw it and said his small company could use one on the same basis, but they will need a custom built help section as he believes his staff will need help in using and understanding the database rather than have a confusing help section that normally accompanies all software. Does Filemaker pro 5 have a template of sorts to guide me or will I need to build a new one and if so can somebody point me in the right direction as I am in virgin territory here. Is this also the same with roll overs?

Hi scubis,

I'm not sure that I'm fully understanding you, so if I if didn't, just ignore this post.

It sounds like you want to integrate a Help File into your solution? If so, there are some examples files

Here (at fmfiles.com)

Also, Fenton Jones has a good example of a help file available at his site Here (www.fentionjones.com) that I used in a solution a while back.

A Help file can just be another layout or two, with one text field. Add a help button to your other layouts to navigate to the Help layout.
