Is there a plugin that will allow me to make a connection with a mysql database and write/retrieve data? I need it to work with windows (and mac), also I'd like to be able to distribute it with my solution.

You can do it with and without a plugin.

Check www.clickware.com for the plugin. Without the plugin you can do it with ODBC or JDBC after you install the mySQL drivers.

You can use FM Migrator to export to MySQL. You can use ODBC to go back and forth.
