LarryLogic Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 I, my company, has lost most everything in a fire. My data files are backed up but lost the Filemaker disk. I use version 6 and I need it for 5 users. Should I purchase version 7? Will my version 6 programs work ok? What should I expect to pay for a 5 license package from a reliable vendor? Larry
LiveOak Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 If you have a site license or registered individual licenses, I'd call FileMaker Inc. and see if they can replace the disks and supply you with the registered license codes. Moving from 5/6 to 7 is not trivial. 4 to 5 to 6 was basically a simple conversion, not so with FM 7. Failing all else, I'd ebay replacment FM 6 copies. -bd
transpower Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 If you have business contents insurance, you may be covered. FMI may replace your CD for only $15 or so. Version 7 has many new features and is worth the upgrade, when you're ready.
Newbies Graeme Nicholas Posted November 7, 2004 Newbies Posted November 7, 2004 G'day Ive got vFM4 & need to go to V6 to view Aussie ClubMac Member DB in v6. Committee people have v6 but is there a way I can work in files v6. Im in OS9.1 and Im here with Sapphire courtesy OS Panther on my HD et al. Im betwixt & between for a while catching up in OS9 before the big switch to X. Our former Treasurer reckoned FM could be backward compatible..........I dont think so ie. V6 is OSX only isnt it? Appreciate some help downunder Graeme
transpower Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 V5 and V6 files are of the same type, but V4 files are not; V4 needs to be upgraded to V5 or V6 to view V6 files.
Hurican Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 v5.5 and v6 are cross-compatible with OS9 and OSX. v5 and before are OS9 only. v7 is OSX 10.2.8 and newer.
