Changing the text on a button

Featured Replies

This is a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to change the text on the face of a button once it's been created. How do you do that?

You need to select the text tool (A) in the tool box and then you can edit the text in the button (by clicking the text or highlighting it). However, if the button is a graphic with a text box for text it may be that the button is grouped. If this is the case you will need to ungroup the button (under the Arrange menu). You will get a message warning you that to ungroup the button will remove the function you have assigned it. You will need to assign the button's function again after editing the text.

I hope that's useful.

Actually, selecting the text toolbox (A) works with group items as well. You can modify the text and leave them grouped - even if a script is already assigned.

Just click/select text tool, click your grouped button/graphic text and it will drop into text edit mode. smile.gif

I knew I was going to feel like an idiot. Thanks ya'll!

Don't feel that way! I have been using FileMaker for a few years and never knew that!

I'd always change the button to "Do Nothing", change the text then change the button back to its original purpose. It drove me crazy!

Should've known there had to be a better way
